For many years Beloit College has made a mindset list that reflects to the age of college freshman with historical events. Beloit's list contains of changes in the lives of how they get the time of day to how they see a person of american history.
The first statment on the list was the one that really got me to me, I thought that I was the only person in my class or even in the whole world that couldnt write any more then my name in cursive. Some others on the list that I thought were very accurate would consist of, the nation has never approved of the job Congress is doing, it seems to me that when ever there is national news on they are always complaining about something that congress is doing or how a senator is acting out of hand. Another that I thought was very accurate was email is just too slow, and they seldom if ever use snail mail, email to me is just a big pain to deal with even though it can be very useful at times.
There are a few statments on the list that I find inaccurate, like having hundreds of cable channels but nothing to watch has always been routine, I disagree with this because I have never had cable tv and I have talked to many people that said they have never had cable tv either.
The Beloit College has put together a real good list of statments that tells how college freshman view the world. The mindset list put to geather a group of accurate and some that I would consider not so accurate statements.
Come on now, you dont know how to write in cursive at all? Dont you still remember some from grade school when we had to practice it all the time? I agree with what you said about cable TV. I didnt have it until like 4th grade and I know people who still dont have it.
ReplyDeleteWell, first of all of course the news is going to complain about Congress! Who would watch the news if they named off any good things they might do? NOBODY! lol.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with your cursive statement. I think that most people in our class remember how to write in cursive. I use it a lot!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the statement about how we do complain about the government when we have a problem. I also agree with the cursive. MOst of the kids in my class did not remember how to write in cursive.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that email is too slow.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with your statement about the cable TV. That is exactly how I grew up. Without it. Good ole ABC, PBS, NBC, CW, and FOX, plus IPTV and NETV. And I agree with the congress has never been approved of the job they are doing.. however, thats kind of based on how the past years have gone, war, economic "recession", and so forth... I think most people know that congress has had and has good points.
ReplyDeleteWell, once again, I'm not too much in agreement with either the cursive thing or the email thing, but that's just me. I've been complaining about Congress ever since I learned who they were and what they do, so definitely in agreement there.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Congress thing. I don't watch the news often, but when I do, there always seems to be some kind of problem with the way they area handling things and such.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your cursive statement. I cannot even write my name in cursive so your ahead of me there
ReplyDeleteI am also one of those people who never had cable and it never bothered me at all
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of the points you made. Especially the cursive one, I only know how to write my name too, and even that is sloppy. I wish I felt comfortable writing everything in cursive, I am sure I could re-teach myself if I tried.
ReplyDeleteI agree that email is too slow. I just use facebook.
ReplyDeleteEmail is tough for me because i don't like to be on the computer much. I need to, somehow, get my emails through texts.
